Denzel Ward's day against Maryland is over after referees uphold their targeting call against the Ohio State cornerback midway through the first quarter.

On 2nd and 3 from the Terrapin 30, Maryland quarterback Max Bortenschlager found receiver Tavion Jacobs for a short completion for the first down.

Unfortunatley for Jacobs, Denzel Ward waited in the depths and delivered a bone-rattling hit to the receiver which dislodged the ball. Ward would've scored the second defensive touchdown of the day if referees hadn't blown the play dead.

Upon review, the refs upheld their targeting call on Ward and ejected him from the game.
