Oklahoma wide receiver Nick Basquine will miss the entire 2017 season after suffering a torn Achillies tendon during Saturday's practice, head coach Lincoln Riley announced.

Basquine did not record a catch in Oklahoma's 45-24 loss to Ohio State last season, but is the Sooners' leading returner among its wide receivers with 20 receptions for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Last year's top pass catcher was Dede Westbrook, a fourth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Basquine is the second member of the Sooners' offense to be lost for the season since the start of preseason camp, as backup offensive lineman Alex Dalton suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this week.

Starting safety Will Sunderland, meanwhile, was suspended indefinitely in late June. His status for the Sept. 9 game against the Buckeyes in Columbus is unknown.
