The top-ranked Ohio State men's volleyball team now sits seven wins away from tying the NCAA record for consecutive wins after surviving a five-set scare on the road at Grand Canyon Sunday afternoon.

The Buckeyes ended the match on a 7-1 run in the final set, erasing a 10-8 deficit to win 15-11.

The victory marks the sixth 40-match winning streak in NCAA men's volleyball history, and 386 days since Ohio State last suffered a loss.

Junior Nicolas Szerszen led the way for the Scarlet and Gray, registering 22 kills and seven digs, while senior Miles Johnson pitched in with 12 kills and 4 digs.

The Buckeyes have tied the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association wins record of 40 set by Loyola Chicago in 2013-2015, and now sit seven wins away from the NCAA record for most consecutive wins in men's volleyball of 47 set by UCLA from 1983-85.

Ohio State will host five of their next eight contests, including the possible record-tying match on March 31 against No. 11 Ball State who the Buckeyes defeated in three sets back on Feb. 2.

However, the Scarlet and Gray will be on the road for the possible record-breaking match against No. 15 Penn State.
