I ask this because I am guilty of this myself. I feel like I was pretty harsh on him today. Early in the season, I was reasonably of the mindset that we just need to be patient with him as we were with Stroud and give him time to grow. Later in the season, it seems like he still plays similarly to the way he did in Week 1 and hasn’t had much improvement week to week.
However, when the game finished today, I realized there was only 1 real bad throw by McCord all game, which was the pick on the throw to Marvin.
Is it about the throws he’s making, or is it about the throws he isn’t making? Multiple times we saw MHJr was open and he just wasn’t getting the ball to him.
I get tired of watching him being a check down king and maybe this is because Day is scared of letting him air it out, or maybe it’s because Rutgers were playing 2 deep safeties.
My question is: How many points do we need to score to beat TCUN and can McCord lead us to that promised land? This is something we are all thinking, and if he can’t, do you think Day knows this?
