Just watched the '78 Gator Bowl.  Two plays before the punch, Schlichter pitches to Springs going left and as he's tackled there's a flagrant facemask.  Official standing right there.  WR Rod Gerald jumping around motioning to the official.  No flag and no mention by Keith Jackson.  Should have been 1st down at the 20 yard line in FG range.  No reason to throw the ball again and no reason for Woody to throw a haymaker.
