Did the Buckeyes get screwed by the CFP with them dropping us from # 1 to #2?  Depends

Do the richest Americans get screwed with tax increases?  Depends

Do the best people always get promoted to the right jobs at work? Depends

It depends on the lens in which you look at such matters. The good old US of A has been implementing at ongoing experiment for almost 250 years. The blending of democracy (fairness, equality for all) and capitalism (free will, unlimited opportunity, and risk/reward) has been nothing sort of a marvel. Perfect- no, Fair- no, Stable – no but still potentially the greatest combination.

Was it fair that Ryan Day got promoted to head coach after only 2 years on staff?  No job posting, no open interviews, others on staff had more experience, and others had been head coaches.  So if you used the fair lens, it does not appear to be fair. But was it the right choice, you gotta think yes. Through a capitalism lens, you deal in results and he has delivered, so Yes it was the right choice.

So did the Buckeyes get screwed with the move to #2? Depends on your view point - If you  view the CFP as an organization that is democratic, voting, majority rules , whose job is to pick the most deserving teams, they may have been screwed.  After all they have a “constitution” right – conference champions, head to head, etc.? But they are also all three branches in one room!

If you think this is group is driven by capitalism, they probably didn’t get screwed. Do you think brand matters in the selection process?  If you view the whole CFP process of producing a TV show driven by viewer ratings, sponsors, ad revenue and lucrative TV contracts, then no they didn’t get screwed.  Sponsors don’t want to see empty seats at these games. Do you think that Clemson  (and  Dabo is already whining about “two Georgia quarterbacks having to go to Arizona to play...”) and LSU fans , who virtually never leave the deep South bubble to play a game are going to go to Glendale (which appears to be right next to Australia).

So support your Buckeyes regardless, travel well and Beat any and all Tigers!!

PS I’m not touching the richest American/tax increase question!!!

PSS: I’m not sure that Oklahoma is a good match up for the LSU D.
