On his radio show Day said Hilliard is interested in coming back for a 6th year. He said the process would be pretty easy with how much time Hilliard has missed. Tuf Borland and Baron Browning will still be in the middle. Pete Werner will still be a starter on the other side. Hilliard is likely the primary back up for Werner. That leaves one spot open for Dallas Gant, Kvaughn Pope, and Teradja Mitchell who will be going into their junior year. That doesnt include the possibility Hilliard wins that spot. Cade Stover is also potentially moving to DE.
That is atleast 2 players who will only be able to start their senior year(if they dont transfer) because they are on kick off. Teradja Mitchell should get the chance to start for 2 years at MLB after Tuf/Baron graduate and Gant/Pope should also have the opportunity for 2 years at starting if they dont win the single open job next year. I think not redshirting atleast 2 of them is a mistake especially with no other OLB currently on the roster young then them.
