Ohio State is basically tied with Bama as the best team in the country. Preseason Projections still account for 40% of the rankings so without those OSU would be ahead of Bama. OSU's offense is 5th best and the defense is 3rd best. There is a fairly large gap between OSU/Bama and the next best team, Oklahoma is 4 points behind OSU. Clemson is 8 points behind OSU and ranked 8th.
Some other observations
- OSU's win are ranked MSU(18), Indiana(28), UC(38) Nebraska(39)
- OSU's future opponents are Wisky(6), PSU(7), Michigan(17)-I would not have guessed Michigan would be ahead of MSU but here they are, Michigan ranks 66 in offense and 2 in defense. Maryland(36) I didn't think this was going to be a very tough schedule preseason but this is one of the hardest schedules in the country. 75% of the teams are currently in the top 40.
- Missouri(10) and Iowa State(14) are way ahead of where the media has them
- Minnesota is being mocked as a bad undefeated team but SP has them at 26 which is pretty respectable.
- Texas has the 4th best offense and the Red River rivalry is going to be a damn good game next week, huge test to see if Oklahoma's defense will be able to limit a real offense. Oklahoma is expected to win by 12 though
- LSU is expected to beat Florida by 5
