Impact of Injuries on the Team's Performance This Year

With the exception of 2014 and the magical QB run that Cardale had, I don't remember a time in Urban's tenure where so many key athletes had injuries that were potentially impacting the performance of the team.

This year, we've lost a possible #1 pick and All-American stud in Nick Bosa. Branden Bowen has been out. Brady Taylor had surgery and is out. Damon Arnette has missed time recently. Jonathan Cooper and Malik Harrison were in the concussion protocol for a week. Austin Mack is probably done for the year. Malik Barrow is gone from the team (medically disqualified). Tuf Borland still seems to be recovering from his achilles injury. Mike Weber has had a lingering foot issue. Sean Nuernberger has been out due to a groin injury. Thayer Munford has been dinged up. So has Dremont Jones and BB Landers.

I know that OSU has a "next man up" mantra, but the bench players are never quite as good as the starters. Has our performance been significantly compromised by having too many starters injured for some/all of the year so far? Is it possible that this is the primary reason that the team has underperformed to date, and not just the coaching/scheme issues???
