The top 50 elite players of college football for 2018 were ranked this past week.  Ohio State has 3 players in the top 50, with one (DE Nick Bosa) in the top 12.

RB J K Dobbins at 23rd is Ohio State's next highest rated player.  And QB Dwayne Haskins is recognized as 32nd, although he has never started a collegiate game.

Competition is very stiff with Clemson having 5 players in the top 50 and 3 in the top twelve-- all 3 on the Tiger's awesome defensive line!

Alabama also has 5 players in the top 50.  And disturbingly Michigan has 4 in the top 50.

Wisconsin and Mississippi State, in addition to Ohio State, have 3 players in the top 50.  All other teams have 2 or fewer.  (See summary comparison below.)

Re-emphasizing the obvious, to win the championship-- both national and Big Ten-- Ohio State cannot rely solely on its players' athleticism, the Buckeyes will have to be coached up to develop as a team.
