Thompson, a three-star recruit from the class of 2014, announced earlier this month that he would forgo his final year of eligibility at Ohio State to play elsewhere as a graduate transfer. Thompson, who battled injury issues in his first two years on campus and was academically ineligible in 2016, played in only two games last season.
Thompson announced his commitment to Virginia just one day after taking an official visit to Charlottesville.
