Although recruiting success is a complex matrix involving the projection and filling of position needs, the Average Quality of the recruit coming into the OSU program is impressive. Over the last 3 years (including the 2018 cycle which is not complete), the Top 5 ranking of the 247 composite average recruit rating goes as follows:

2018

1) OSU            (93.96)

2) Georgia       (93.40)

3) Texas          (93.23)

4) USC            (93.15)

5) Clemson     (92.81)

2017

1) OSU           (94.59)

2) Alabama     (93.76)

3) Stanford     (92.56)

4) Georgia      (92.27)

5) Clemson     (92.10)

2016

1) Alabama     (92.54)

2) FSU            (91.71)

3) OSU           (91.56)

4) LSU            (91.35)

5) Georgia       (90.77)

Even though the Buckeyes have incurred some last minute losses of top national recruits including Woodbey, Parsons, and Carman, the sky is falling attitude of a few posters does not hold up to analysis. Some criticisms are valid such as the Gameday set infraction involving Parsons, but overall this is obviously a golden age of OSU recruiting. Even position recruiting that has been lacking in recent years including DT have shown a huge turnaround.
