Tyvis Powell is back on an NFL roster.
The San Francisco 49ers promoted the former Ohio State defensive back to their active roster on Saturday, meaning he will likely participate in his first NFL regular-season game of the year when the 49ers play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Powell had been on the 49ers' practice squad since Nov. 1, but has not played in an NFL regular-season game since last year, when he appeared in eight games for the Seattle Seahawks. He spent part of the offseason with the Cleveland Browns and was with the Indianapolis Colts in the preseason, but was placed on injured reserve by the Colts at the end of the preseason and later released.
