Mike Nugent's well-traveled NFL career is set to continue with the Chicago Bears, who signed the former Ohio State kicker on Monday.
The Bears signed Nugent after placing their previous kicker, Cairo Santos, on injured reserve.
Nugent played in four games earlier this season with the Dallas Cowboys, converting seven of nine field goal attempts and all eight of his extra point attempts, but was released after the Cowboys' regular kicker, Dan Bailey, returned from injury.
Assuming Nugent kicks for the Bears on Sunday, he will have kicked for six NFL teams in his career, also including the New York Jets (2005-08), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2009), Arizona Cardinals (2009) and Cincinnati Bengals (2010-16). For his 13-year NFL career as a whole, Nugent has made 243 of 301 field goal attempts (80.7 percent) and 352 of 363 attempted extra points (97.0 percent).
Nugent also spent time with the New York Giants this summer, but lost a preseason competition to be their kicker to Southern Oregon University product Aldrick Rosas.
