In my mind, it might be beneficial for the Buckeyes if the last week just devolved into complete chaos for the committee to tease through:
- Ohio State beats Wisconsin
- South Carolina beats Clemson
- Clemson beats Miami
- TCU beats Oklahoma
- Washington beats Washington State tonight, which sends Stanford to the Pac-12 Championship
- Stanford beats Notre Dame tonight, and then beats USC next week
- Auburn beats Georgia
The CFP would have to choose the 4 from:
Likely candidates
- B1G Champion: Ohio State (11-2)
- ACC Champion: Clemson (11-2)
- SEC Champion: Auburn (11-2)
- Big-12 Champion: TCU (11-2)
- Pac-12 Champion: Stanford (10-3)
- Alabama (11-1)
Less likely candidates
- B1G Runner-Up: Wisconsin (12-1)
- SEC Runner-up: Georgia (11-2)
- Big-12 Runner-up: Oklahoma (11-2)
- ACC Runner-up: Miami (10-2)
- AAC Champion: UCF (12-0)
Ohio State would not have a clear-cut path to the playoffs, but neither would any other teams. Hopefully, the CFP will still only choose 1 SEC representative, and Ohio State's resume would stack up favorably, or equally to everyone else. We probably don't need TCU to beat Oklahoma, but it only serves to increase confusion. #chaos
