Volume 10 brings 13 new players to the Big Ten.
B1G Gains
13 players committed to eight Big Ten schools in October. Indiana brought in the biggest haul with four verbals. The other programs adding to their class were: Maryland (1), Michigan (2), Michigan State (1), Minnesota (2), Nebraska (1), Rutgers (1) and Wisconsin (1).
B1G Losses For Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State
The conference lost seven players between October 1st and October 31st. That is the most players to rescind their commitments in a single month for the class of 2018 since six players decommitted in June.
The most notable players to leave were CB Brendan Radley-Hiles (.974) and OG Emil Ekiyor (.951). Radley-Hiles was Nebraska's highest-rated player in its 2018 class. His decision to leave was a huge blow and could put the class into a tailspin. This is a situation to monitor as speculation continues to swirl around Miek Riley's job.
Ekiyor, a talented offensive guard from Indiana, dropped Harbaugh and Michigan for Nick Saban and Alabama on October 29th. Ekiyor was Michigan's highest rated player in the 2018 class that is down to two offensive linemen, OT Jalen Mayfield (.901) and OT Ryan Hayes (.899).
Another high-profile player to look elsewhere was SDE Dorian Hardy (.927) who had a parting of ways with Penn State on the 13th of October. It appears that there was an incident with Hardy and his high school team that led to the Nittany Lions withdrawing their offer.
Dorian Hardy is no longer committed to Penn State because the program reportedly rescinded his scholarship offer.https://t.co/deJWzhCv2S

King Of The Mountain
Meyer and the Buckeyes' 2018 recruiting class remains on top of the Big Ten and the nation. Although Ohio State took a minor hit (-0.08) the class was still able to increase its lead over second place Penn State. Why? Because Penn State withdrew its offer to Dorian Hardy and lost 3.82 points in the process.
The Buckeyes currently have a 30.17 composite point lead over the Nittany Lions. What makes this more impressive is that Ohio State has four fewer commits than Franklin and the team from Pennsylvania.
On the national front, Texas is still the team just behind the Buckeyes. The Longhorns and Ohio State both have 18 commits, but Meyer's lead has dropped from a 19.49 point lead to 16.78 points over Herman. The Buckeyes have a .951 player rating average and Texas has .934 average.
Where is Alabama? The Crimson Tide keeps climbing. Nick Saban's class is up nine spots from 25th to 16th and has 12 players. The Tide's average commit has a .914 average, that is 37 points below the Buckeyes' average.

The 2018 Composite Team Rankings as of 11/1/2017 according to 247
For the fifth straight update, Ohio State remains the top team in the Big Ten. The Bucks are comfortably in the lead and were able to widen the gap on Penn State. The races to watch are between Michigan and Penn State for second place and the mass of teams fighting for fifth through tenth.
Three Up, Three Down
For the third straight cycle, the top four spots stayed steady, while spots 6 through 13 had some movement. Indiana was the biggest winner this month moving up four spots to 8th.
Tom Allen added four players in October and those additions bumped his 2018 class up 13.64 points and up four spots to eighth. The commits were WDE Madison Norris, DT Shamar Jones, ATH Cam Jones and TE TJ Ivy. All of the players are rated at 3★. Jones originally committed in April, but had a change of heart in May. Fast forward to October 21st and the Tennessee native is back with the Hoosiers.
The other teams moving up the chart were Minnesota and Iowa. The Gophers jumped Wisconsin for sixth place and the Hawkeyes climbed benefited from Rutgers' slide.
The Scarlet Knights and Nebraska were this months big losers. Chris Ash's class fell three spots to 13th and Mike Riley's Huskers dropped to tenth.
Rutgers had three players decide to reopen their recruiting options. The losses of dual-threat QB Sean Chambers, WR EJ Turner and ATH Amad Anderson caused the Scarlet Knights to lose 9.32 composite points. The fall would have been worse if 3★ ATH Christian Izien (.820) didn't verbal on the 13th of October.
Wisconsin fell one spot for the second straight cycle. The Badgers are now seventh in the conference as they continue their yo-yo action with Minnesota.
Conference Average Line
There divide between the haves and have nots is not as large, but continues in the Big Ten. The conference average line should sit just after the seventh place team. However, the average is still located just behind fifth place Michigan State. This indicates a big gap between the five top schools and the rest of the conference.
Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan and Maryland remain the only teams above 200 points. Michigan State is close to the conference average, but the rest have work to do. It's time for Nebraska and Wisconsin to step up. The Cornhuskers appear to have the harder road as they struggle on the field and they appear to have a lame-duck coach as things get "Frosty".

Micah Parsons will make his decision next month. Will he choose the Buckeyes, Nittanly Lions or Sooners? If you believe crystal balls he will play for Penn State.
B1G Stars Breakdown
Ohio State and Penn State remain the only teams in the conference to have 5★ commits. The Buckeyes have four and the Nittany Lions have one.
Taron Vincent, Brenton Cox Jeremy Ruckert and Jaelen Gill are Ohio State's 5★ players. Justin Shorter is Penn State's lone five star player.
Movers And Shakers
What a difference a month makes. In the last update, only four teams moved on the board. This month, eight of the conference's 14 teams find themselves in a new spot on the Stars Chart this month.
Minnesota is back on top as the Gophers added two new commits and now stand at 24 players.
Indiana made the biggest positive move as the Hoosiers added the most players, four, and went from tenth to sixth. Wisconsin (+2) and Michigan (+1) were the other teams to make positive moves.
Star Gazing
Only one player had his star ranking change. Indiana's OLB Micah McFadden went up from two stars to three.
96 percent of the Big Ten's commits are 4★ and 3★ players. To put Ohio State's recruiting in perspective, just over 25 percent of the conference's 4 star commits and 80 percent of the 5 star players are Buckeyes.

Emil Okiyor flipped from Michigan to Alabama on October 29th.
At the end of October, 11 Ohio State commits are the highest rated players at their position in the conference. If you look at the players Urban Meyer has offered, the Buckeyes could have the best player at every position except for pro-style quarterback.
The Big Ten East still owns 16 of the 18 positions. Minnesota is the only team in the Big Ten West with a player on the board. Is the West even trying?

For the fourth straight month, Nebraska is in a new position. The back-and-forth with Michigan continues. This time, the Cornhuskers passed the Wolverines and dropped That Team to fourth.
Iowa was the only other team with movement. The Hawkeyes climbed up a spot and tied Minnesota for eighth.
Meyer and the Buckeyes continue to have a massive lead over the rest of the conference. With more 5★ and 4★ players on the horizon, the 2018 Ohio State recruiting class could be one for the ages.
The Big Ten had six schools improve their average player ranking, two programs had a loss and six teams stayed the same.
The two schools that lost points were Michigan and Rutgers. The Wolverines fell 5 points and the Scarlet Knights one point. Penn State had the biggest positive gain as its player average increased three points.
Which teams do you think will rise and fall over the next month?
