What's better than bone-crushing hits on TTUN receivers trying to come over the middle?  Not much. Today's HOD is brought to you by Ohio State LB and men among boys, #35 Matt Wilhelm.

In this 2001 rendition of "The Game" a TTUN receiver tries to sneak a short slant, but Mr. Wilhelm will have nothing of the sort.  With OSU leading by just 7 and on 3rd and 10, Wilhelm levels the ttun receiver short of line to make, causing ttun to bring their punt team out for another go round.  Wilhelm's play helped the Buckeyes sneak out of AA with a close 26-20 win.  

Other notables about this game and season include:

• OSU went into AA unranked, and took down a #10 ranked UM squad
• This game marked Craig Krenzel's first game as a starter - a QB who would go on to lead Ohio State to a national championship.  He got the opportunity after starting QB, Steve Bellisari was cited for DUI and suspended.
• This game was the first win in the last 15 years of domination over ttun, with Ohio State's only losses since then coming in 2003 and 2011.
• This was the Senator's first of many wins over TTUN
• This 2001 team finished the season just 7-5 with an Outback Bowl loss to South Carolina
• Illinois won the B1G that year with a 7-1 record, including a 34-22 win over Ohio State

Matt Wilhelm

The only thing that you need to know about Matt Wilhelm is that he is indeed, a bad, bad man.  He played for the good guys from 1999 to 2002 and finished his career at Ohio State with a team-leading 11 tackles in a 31-24 victory over Miami (you might have seen this game).  A consensus first team All-American, Wilhelm has his own tree in Buckeye Grove along with fellow teammates Mike Doss, Mike Nugent, LeCharles Bentley, Na'il Diggs, and Andy Groom.

Notably Wilhelm has contributed to teams that have won championships on every level, in college (NC over miami) and then again in the NFL (super bowl XLV w/ Green Bay).  Wilhelm is an Ohio native out of Elyria, Ohio.
