The first week of the season and most of Navy's stats get stuffed.
It's always interesting to see how a team's stats change after playing Ohio State.
It may not be the best comparison, but I will use Navy's 2013 stats against the results of yesterday's game.
Below you will be able to compare Navy's stats before playing, and after playing, Ohio State.
Navy is known for its running game. Last season Navy averaged just over 325 yards rushing per game. Did the new look Silver Bullets step up to the challenge? No. The Midshipmen were able to gain 370 yards (+44.6 yards) on the ground against Ohio State's defense.
The Buckeyes kept Navy's passing game from leaving the dock.
Coming into this game there were many questions about Ohio State's secondary. Although Navy's ground oriented offense is not the best barometer, the Buckeyes' defense only allowed 20 yards through the air and never got caught sleeping on the deep ball.
Barrett does not run like Braxton, but I think the offense is in good hands.
Even without Braxton Miller, Ohio State's offense was able to sink the midshipmen's defensive stats. The J.T. Barrett led Buckeyes were able to gain 420 yards and score 34 points. Both were well more than what Navy gave up in 2013.
