Sixteen. That's the number of quarters that Ohio State has played without scoring more than 2 goals. The Buckeyes were crushed in all phases today, except faceoffs, in one of the worst performances you will ever see.

Penn State scored four straight goals to start the game, which essentially put the contest entirely out of the reach of Ohio State. There's no other way around it. Ohio State was unacceptably bad in every phase of the game today, and it's been systemically bad on offense since about game 6.

Penn State scored, turned the Buckeyes over, and then scored more. Their only bad quarter was the 4th, where each team scored just once. It was total dominance.

Every decision by Ohio State's staff was wrong, outside of the faceoff group. Starting Caleb Fyock was a bad idea, as his injury was so obviously a problem that it hurt the team. Jack Allen was last week's player of the week, but somehow couldn't be trusted this week when Fyock was obviously beat up.

Offensively, everything is wrong. The players are getting worse the longer the season goes on. There's absolutely no sense of cohesion. The shooting is regressing each week. Even an adequate offense would put this team at a borderline Final Four level. This offense is so poor that it's going to be a struggle to win any remaining game.

Ohio State, somehow, was the only team to be penalized over the course of 60 minutes. Which allowed Penn State to score 2 goals. Additionally, the Buckeyes turned the ball over 23 times. A full 13 of which were caused.

I do not know what the next four games will bring. What I can tell you is that they will an absolute slog. A meat grinder the likes of which we haven't seen since 2018. Invest in your beverage of choice now. We will need it.

Go Buckeyes.

Next up is Maryland. In College Park.
