Ohio State women’s hockey’s contingent of Olympians got off to a great start on the first day of competition in Milan.
In her Olympic debut, Ohio State junior forward Joy Dunne – the youngest member of Team USA – scored the second goal in the United States’ 5-1 win over Czechia.

Also in her Olympic debut, Ohio State sophomore defenseman Mira Jungåker scored a goal in Sweden’s 4-1 opening-day win over Germany.

The other two current members of the Ohio State women’s hockey team who played on Thursday, Jenna Raunio and Hilda Svensson, also got on the stat sheet in their Olympic debuts as Raunio had two assists and Svensson had one for Sweden.
Former Ohio State player Hannah Bilka had an assist for the United States in its win over Czechia.
The fifth current Buckeye who’s set to play in the Olympics, Finland’s Sanni Vanhanen, did not get the chance to play on Thursday as Finland’s opening game against Canada was postponed due to a norovirus outbreak within the Finnish team.
