Maxwell Moldovan started his fourth U.S. Open in spectacular fashion.
The former Ohio State golfer made an eagle from 189 yards out on the first hole of his opening round at Oakmont Country Club, briefly propelling him into the lead at the year’s third major championship.
We have an early contender for shot of the day, and potentially shot of the championship!

Moldovan bogeyed the next two holes and had a double bogey on the sixth hole to fall to +2 through six. No matter how the rest of the U.S. Open goes, though, he’ll be able to say he had one of the best shots of the entire tournament.
Moldovan, who played for Ohio State from 2020-24, is playing in the U.S. Open for the fourth straight year after advancing through the qualifying rounds.
