A proposed rule change in college football could allow players to play up to four games and still redshirt without seeking a medical hardship waiver.
According to The Athletic's Chris Vannini, the ACC has made an official proposal for the rule, which the American Football Coaches Association has been making a push for since last year.
The ACC has proposed (for everyone) to allow players to play in any four games and still count for a redshirt. The AFCA has been pushing for this. Would be effective next year and not retroactive. #AFCA2018

AFCA executive director Todd Berry said Wednesday, after the AFCA's annual Football Bowl Subdivision coaches' meeting, that there is "unanimous support" among coaches for the proposed rule change, according to The Athletic's Max Olson.
Todd Berry says coaches at every level were unanimous about 4-game redshirt rule. Hes been pushing for this for a long time. This needs to pass. This needs to pass right now.

According to Vannini, the proposed rule change will be voted on this spring.
