Lost in all the playoff discussion, the states of Tennessee and Florida have had a sort of upside down year. What was good (or pretended to be) is now bad, and what was bad is now good.
In the state of Tennessee, FBS football records from 2017: (As of 11/26)
#20 Memphis 10-1 American
MTSU 6-6 C-USA
Vanderbilt 5-7 SEC
Tennessee 4-8 SEC
From the state of Florida we have:
#15 UCF 11-0 American
#2 (for now) Miami 10-1 ACC
USF 9-2 American
FAU 9-3 C-USA
FIU 7-4 C-USA
Florida State 5-6 ACC
Florida 4-7 SEC
If nothing else, it is interesting. I can't think of any other states right now where traditional powerhouses fell flat on their face and the non-power teams stole the show, but if I missed any please add it to the comments.
