Last week I flew east to visit my brother and surprised the family with 4 tickets to the Minnesota game. You know what the Shoe looked like a few minutes before kickoff.
It just so happens that in back to back weeks I attended some college football. Last night after work I went with friends in the coldest night of the year so far, chugged a couple Buff Golds with piping hot chili then walked in to see the Buffs vs Trojans, in row 69. :elementary jokes here: This is the scene about 4 minutes to kickoff:
What?!? Wut. Just..... wha? Everyone got excited when Ralphie (female buffalo) stormed the field (which I agree is awesome), then returned to their hot chocolate.
The student section next to the band seating (just above the black Colorado, scene left) remained empty throughout the game. To be fair, it was horribly cold and I am pretty sure I now have the flu from the insane wind (apparently not mentioned in the ESPN coverage) but still, it's early ski season and it's not yet finals week(s). Get to the game. The apparent highlight of the game for most in attendance was the snowboard team's halftime show - they rolled in snow from the parking lot and set up a rail from the (empty) student section for a quick park session.
I digress. Here's the thing; the Shoe has its quiet non-standing/yelling/etc sections but at least the seats are full. Last night I realized all the more how great it must be to have a huge following like the Bucks do. It's great to be a part of it.
