With heavy thunderstorms and tornado warnings this morning, I was looking around the garage and rear patio making sure things were OK when I saw a 12" - 14" snake on our enclosed patio. Being kinda dark, I thought it was one of the black racers we see from time to time. I got a broom to scoot it towards the patio door. When I nudged it, it coiled up into a striking position. That's when I realized it was a baby rattlesnake. I really don't like killing the wild critters, but these are dangerous, to say the least. I was able to dispatch it with a shovel and dispose of it in the woods behind the house. I got a couple pix with my phone, but I'm not sure how to post them from the phone. The markings on its  back clearly identify it as a rattlesnake. Snake is gone. Heavy storms have blown through and the tornado watch has expired. Back to a normal Florida morning, I hope!
