LOL. Guess who's finally including a jam band song in his medley?
Actually, not just one. I'm throwing four bones to one of the genuinely nicest people on this forum, Gratefulbuck. Since the inception of this series he (along with SeattleLinga, Major H and a few others) have been there to offer their support and also (in Grateful's case) demand more jam band music. He's finally getting his wish.
We're starting with probably the Ur-example of jam-bandery, one of the biggest names in American rock, a group that only recently stopped touring: the Grateful Dead. This is a song called "Touch of Grey"
Next is a song from a band I've never listened to for even a second and yet holds a special meaning for me. Phish was the favorite band of Chris Cannella, my roommate of two years, who died of an overdose in late 2016. Chris had gone to a Phish show only days before his death, during a time which he was still in recovery, and I guess there's something about being surrounded by drug use that can cause someone to relapse. Anyway, this is as much tribute to him as anyone else. This is a song called "Bouncing Around the Room."
Next is the only song from Dave Mathews' Band I've ever found even half listenable. This is "Don't Drink the Water."
And last up, while this band isn't technically a jam band, I know Grateful has a soft spot for them, so I'm including Canadian rockers Nickleback. This is their oft-spoofed, oft-mocked song "Photograph."
