Bottom line up front: My VA pain doc wants to use a Racz catheter in an attempt to break up adhesions (scar/granulation tissue) in/near my lateral right L5 recess/foramen. Looking for anyone who's gone through it and the results.
Background: Over the course of my military career, I developed substantial orthopedic and neurological 'problems'. One specific problem: after a 'pars' fracture, I developed spondylolisthesis, so I had two level fusion, two discectomies and two hemilaminectomies (all between L4-S1). Post-op, significant granulation tissue essentially crushed my L5 nerve root, leaving me with permanent 'sciatica' (both radiculopathy and radiculitis). I have tried just about every treatment with little/no improvement...RF Pulse, ESIs, blocks, TENS, traction, acupuncture, etc.
If anybody has gone through this procedure, I'd like to hear from you. Thanks.
