The significance of this particular vessel is well-documented, as it resulted in the Allies successfully maintaining control of Malta during the Second World War.

It's not enough to simply copy and paste here what happened during Operation Pedestal.  You will need to read about it yourself, if not already familiar.

Let's just say that SS Ohio was originally an American fuel tanker, that she was ultimately manned by British officers and crew, and that her convoy was attacked repeatedly by an array of enemy submarines and aircraft before she successfully arrived to Valletta harbor (where she then was no longer maneuverable).

And she was kind of a big deal..
