Sometimes the cosmos aligns just right and the rock gods snort a few lines of Carl Sagan's ashes and bless us with an extraordinary day of music. September 24 is one of those days.

The gods first sanctified this day way back in 1893 with the birth of The Father of Texas Blues, Blind Lemon Jefferson. Fast forward 72 years and the Rolling Stones release "Out of Our Heads", kicking off an avalanche of incredible albums all released on September 24 - Laura Nyro, T. Rex, Roy Orbison, Rush - "Caress of Steel", Motorhead's eponymous debut, Eagles -"The Long Run", and David Bowie.

That list only takes us to 1990. In 1990 AC⚡DC released "The Razor's Edge" while Megadeth gave us arguably the best thrash metal album of all-time in "Rust in Peace".

1991 upped the ante a bit more as two future Rock Hall inductees released their magnum opuses on the same day, teaching the lesson of opportunity cost to many paperboys and kids that saved their grass cutting money. Nirvana caused an entire genre to go extinct with "Nevermind" while Red Hot Chili Peppers forced the music world to finally take them seriously with "Blood Sugar Sex Magik". If that wasn't enough, A Tribe Called Quest released the seminal "The Low End Theory".

September 24 would continue to bless us with albums from Weezer, Frank Zappa, Sheryl Crow, Steve Earle, Blue Oyster Cult, Peter Gabriel and Gov't Mule.
