Pro-BMX rider Dave Mirra passed away this afternoon in Greenville, North Carolina. Early reports indicate he died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. 

The 41-year old won medals in every X-Games between 1995 and 2008. Mirra won a total of 24 X-Games medals. He competed in RallyCross between 2011 and 2013. Mirra also hosted MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge and had a video game: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX.

Mirra is survived by his wife and two kids.
