It seems like just yesterday we were a growing, but a not-sure-if-this-is-viable site and found ourselves at a crossroad. We knew we needed to up our coverage of Ohio State athletics to take the proverbial next step and we would need a full-time beat writer to effectively pull it off.

We launched our first and only fundraiser to hire a beat writer and you guys stepped up, making it a possibility. It was the first and most important hire we'd make as a site and we had to nail it.

Luckily, we we found Kyle Rowland. For the past two years, Kyle poured his heart and soul into this site, helping to make it what it is today – still growing and expanding our coverage of the Buckeyes. So, it's with a bittersweet feeling that I say Kyle has accepted a job with the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. His last day with Eleven Warriors is Friday.

Kyle is going to crush things for the Journal Gazette, just like he did for us. He was a pro every step of the way – a guy you never had to worry about – and that's such a luxury to have. Whether it was breaking news, establishing process for a site cutting its teeth, providing fast and reliable beat coverage, or conducting insightful interviews with heavyweights on the scene, Kyle made this site better at every step of the way.

So, let's take the next few days and raise a few toasts – perhaps we can even coax D.J. into publishing the mythical list of “Things Kyle Rowland Thinks are Amazing.”

Replacing Kyle won't be easy, but we've already hired another writer to join Patrick Maks on the beat. We'll have more details next week.
