He has some crazy ability, and with A&M's improved recruiting they are going to be scary the next few years. They will be in a national championship soon, maybe against the OSU...
I know it's not a popular opinion, but Klein was a better pick if you considered football/what he meant to his team and T'eo was a better pick if you read the Heisman mantra. Manziel went 2-2 against bowl eligible teams and put up A LOT of yards against some really bad competition. I think Manziel is definitely top 3, but I can't help but feel that ESPN really gave it to him during the Alabama game.* Few people had even heard of Manziel before that game, and few people even LOOKED at anyone else after it. Did Klein drop the ball during the Baylor game? Yeah...But getting knocked the **** out will do that. He dropped one game in the back third of the season and basically got knocked out of contention. Manziel drops 2 games earlier, or 50% of the bowl eligible teams he plays, and he's the frontrunner. I just don't understand I guess.
*seriously though, the whole Johny Football thing before the Alabama game was probably the smartest decision of all time, and I hope the guy who thought of it gets a raise. A&M wins? Suddenly the SEC has a large say in the "best player in football". Manziel gets crushed? Bama has the best defense and should just move to the NFL.
To be fair, he dropped two games to teams that are in the BCS top ten by a margin of 8 points. Colin Klein lost big against Baylor and played inferior competition compared to Manziel. As to Teo, his background while touching, and I pray for him, should not trump Manziels feats this season.
I'm tired of people acting like he is a freshman. I do not consider a redshirt freshman a real freshman, it is a shame. Why do we try to fake it and call them a freshman. IMO, you get one "freshman" year and every year after that you can call it what you want. He is the SECOND youngest to win, Ingraham was a TRUE sophmore. Manziel is only like 3 months older than Archie when he won it is TRUE sophmore year.
He earned it, I wouldn't have given it to anyone else. But PLEASE stop toughting him as the first "freshman" to win the Hesiman. I can't stand it...
I hate it more than threads that go to the second page or threads more than 12 hours old.
I think Manti deserved it more but really was not surprised that Jonny got it. I dont think anyone was truly surprised that he got it. I just think that is the problem with letting the media vote for that honor. Not trying to take anything away from Jonny though because he truly is a great player I just thought that Manti deserved it more.
What an impressive redshirt freshman. The way he spoke on that podium you would've thought he was a ten year NFL vet. Seems like his parents raised him the right way and it payed off.
Let's not make him something he's not from a character standpoint. The list of Heisman winners with an arrest record is pretty short. In fact, the entire Manziel family is a big deal in my part of Texas, and they're what we euphemistically refer to as "colorful."
As far as his chances of winning again, a lot has to go right. Even Tebow couldn't do it as the quarterback of a national champion his junior year, because of the emergence of Bradford. I think you have to say the odds are really against it.
I disagree. I think Gurley (freshman RB from UGA) and Yeldon (freshman RB from BAMA) will garner more attention from heisman voters than Johhny Football.
Lets not also forget #5 won't have a bowl ban to make voters forget about him.
I agree. It's a tall order to win a 2nd Heisman for a reason. You're no longer a secret and other teams come in to prepare specifically to stop you week in and week out. There's tons of talented players on very talented teams to compete against as well. It's hard enough to get the stars to align for you to win just one Heisman let alone two. He's certainly got a better shot than anyone else ever has to bring in two though...He's got another 3 years! I have a feeling this guy is going to start making Tebowmania a thing of the past, fml.
I too am willing to bet Manziel doesn't win another one. Don't get me wrong he had an amazing season, but I think the rest of the pack was down this year, evidenced by the fact that a LB was #2 in voting. Also he could be losing 4 members of one of the best OL in football, don't see him having quite as much success without all that time back there. He will still be a very good player, just don't see another Heisman out of him
Is all of this hate because Braxton didnt win? Jealousy is an ugly thing. Manziels season does no discredit to Braxtons season, both are incredible heisman level players.
It will be a crazy next 2 to 3 years for Johnny.... High expectations to live up too

I am just glad that Teo didn't win it. Very good LB, but not Heisman worthy.
Agree 100% ATX.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning! GO BUCKS!!
accidental downvote bro. my b! I was actually trying to counter all these thoughtless downvotes someone is giving out. I will get you back
I wished Teo would of won it, he was the most deserving as he led the nations No. 1 scoring defense.
Braxton will get his time the next two years.
Go Bucks!!
With the Mack Brown problems at UT A&M may be taking over recruiting in the state of Texas
Meh.
I'm fine with Manziel winning it, but I really thought Klein was deserving too.

I have to side with Johnny. I would have taken Braxton over Klien.

The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
His careers over, 3 more years of sec defenses game planning against him
^ Epic fail post. Pure hatorade..he'll win another Heisman.

Care to wager a bet? Idk if you realize the treatment Heisman winners get

Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
agreed, I doubt serioulsy he beats LSU or Bama next year.

Personally if I was a GM. I take Lee over all of them in a draft.
