Cool article about Braxton (written just after the Sugar Bowl)

http://www.freep.com/article/20110128/HSS/101280327/Best-Midwest-OSU-s-Braxton-Miller-next-Terrelle-Pryor-

Dug this up earlier this morning. With all the Heisman talk going on I wanted to take a quick look back.  It's cool to see his development even this early in his career. There is also some good info about when he was young and how it was never anyone but Ohio State for him.

It's weird... I expected Braxton to be the better passer and not as good a runner, but it seemst he opposite at this stage in the game. I'm not saying Pryor was a whole lot better, but I think he was a slightely better pass er at this point. I think Miller will have better stats, but I think it is more of an offense thing rather than a ability thing. Not saying Miller doesn't end up being a better passer, just at this stage it seemed backwards from what I expected.

I disagree on the passing comparison.  Just my own opinion, but Braxton just seems to be smoother in everything he does.  We really have only seen 4 or 5 really awful throws or bad decisions by Braxton thus far into the season in the passing game.  Last year was a different story, but we can all see how well he has progressed.

Pryor, for all his strengths, always seemed to make a few questionable throws each game, even in his junior season.  He threw consistently off his back foot, and many times tried to feather the ball into locations where it just wouldn't work.

Braxton has grown exponentially as a passer.  I think Pryor vs. Braxton as freshmen in the passing game was very one-sided in Pryor's favor.  However, Pryor didn't grow as quickly or substantially throughout his three seasons at OSU as much as Braxton has grown from his frosh to sophomore years.

If it weren't for Devin Smith's dropsies at times this year, Braxton's numbers and our perception of him in the passing game would be even higher, I think.  Pryor, on the other hand, had Hartline, Robiskie, Sanzenbacher, and Posey to throw too.  Posey had a few drops as well, but for the most part Pryor had a sure-handed crop of wideouts.

I think that Braxton is a better player than TP in both passing and running.  TP had amazing straightline speed, but was nowhere near as elusive, dynamic or productive as Braxton.  Braxton also has better passing mechanics and a more powerful arm.  Both struggle with footwork and accuracy, but Braxton is showing improvement.

In TP's defense he didn't have the luxury of Coach Meyer and Coach Herman.  Coach Tressel was great, but besides him there was Bollman and Siciliano and that wasn't ideal.

Saw him at the DI title game and knew then that he was going to be a star.  It's too bad he didn't have more weapons around him in his SR year or they would have beat St. Eds.  It was a mini blizzard at that game...but it was worth seeing.  35-28...helluva game.

We can agree to disagree, it seems that Pryor's balls had a bit more touch and were more catchable.

@Steensn, for some reason I read your post first and I had to re-read it twice to realize you were talking about footballs.  Haha!
