Obviously things can change in a second here but I am hearing the staff isn't thrilled with Gibson's academic standing and an announcement is likely not coming tomorrow. Still hearing if all hurdles are cleared he's all Buckeye but we may have to wait longer. Stay tuned as things could always change in the fluid world of recruiting.

It's very frustrating to me when a kid has a favorite school (like Gibson with OSU) but does not understand/comprehend the requirements needed to go there. If were a prospect and had a school I wanted to go to above all others, I would do EVERYTHING possible to go there; succeeding in the classroom is one of those things.

It's like nothing comes easy these days. Of course there are issues with his recruitment. Otherwise it just wouldn't be the Class 2013 Ohio State Football recruiting cycle.
Hopefully it works out. We're weak in that position.
Well hopefully it'll work out in our favor. Maybe he'll get everything in gear.
Foster with his first visit and Gibson not being able to get his academics in order...these guys should be buckeye commits and we should be STRONG in that position.
I will hold out some hope that they both get these resolved and we get them both in this class. Can you imagine...Barrett, Elliott, Marshall, Gibson, Foster, Baugh!...WHEW! IF the staff can get Elliott and Green together in this class and Green can bulk up a bit under Coach Mick and work on pass pro in order to play in Urban's two back sets with Elliott or Marshall, heck, even having Elliott AND Marshall flanking Barrett...with JT slinging the ball to Gibson, Foster, Baugh...might just sport wood thinking about it.
Wouldnt hurt to throw in Quick as well
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Last time I checked Green didnt need to bulk up. He looks like the incredible Hulk now!
He looks good now, that wasn't a knock on his but no HS senior is NFL ready, he needs some years under Coach Mick to completely develop. I sure hope he is still considering tOSU. He's going to be great. What I meant by him bulking up a bit, is to give us the power back or even FB (Boren) that is going to be used in this power running game spread...if that is truly where we want to be, Barrett CAN run but I don't think wants to, and the other QBs we are looking at are mostly pro-style qbs with athleticism, I wouldn't call them running qbs, which I think adds an emphasis to have a power running back and one who can handle pass pro. The jury is still out on that, as we don't have any film or history really to go off of what he can do in that situation but I am sure he is a talent that can use some coaching to get better and excel but on the field and in the weight room
@ArmyBuck haha yeah thats like saying John Simon needs to add more muscle or Brax and Jordan Hall need to chase around some chickens to improve their quickness.
I think the next big WR recruit will be gibson, but I don't see robert foster ending up to tOSU though. Quick will need to see first hand how the offense is going to run before he will pick tOSU over louisville. A Quick/Gibson/Baugh/Marshall/Elliot would give tOSU all the "speed" they need at the skill postion for ole Urban.
It isn't just speed that Meyer needs at the WR position. It's size, too. Meyer's teams struggled in the red zone on passing downs. They were able to make up for it by Tebow's uncanny ability to break tackles and make an incredible run on 3rd and 7, etc., but Meyer needs a big guy that will be physical and give Miller a target on passing downs in the red zone. That's why I think Foster is so pivotal. He's not only a home run threat, he's also a physical and TALL threat.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be ecstatic with Quick and Gibson, but we need a physical threat on the outside. I'm hoping Michael Thomas can develop into this physical outside WR under Meyer. And maybe Epitropolous will, too. Baugh's athleticism and size helps, too. But Foster would fill a need and give us that extra threat in the red zone that any coach would crave.
That being said, if we strike out on both Gibson AND Quick, then we are going to have to hope that last year's 3* recruits turn into studs.
Quick and foster please

I want Shelton and Foster, nothing pains me more than seeing someone born and raised in Ohio go somewhere else and succeed when we coulda had him, Jeremy Maclin comes to mind.
I think Tyrone Williams deserves some mention of a receiver with size that could be huge in the red zone. Of Coarse thats assuming that his hands have improved. Definitely has the physical stature you would want for corner routes and fades in the red zone.
a very 'Notre Dame' situation
Ummmm.... Wasn't Jeremy Maclin from St. Louis?
C.L.E Man I rep my town, everyday bleed that orange and brown.
C'mon Shelton, get the work done! A MAN, doesnt want things handed to him, he wants to EARN it! If you're truly all Buckeye, EARN it!
Shady - Maclin is from Missouri.

Anyone heard anything on Mr.Gibson today?
Uneblievable. Sounds like there's some feet now to why Gibson has been hanging around Morgantown. If you can't get in @ tOSU, of course WVU will take ANYone (ala Pat White, Adam "Pacman" Jones, Chris Henry, etc.)
Scarlet- Chill. Gibson was in Morgantown for a 7 on 7 tourney.
With his hs team.
I did a quick Twitter search, here's what I found.
did you guys not read what I wrote in this post?
lol I did, but your post left open the possibility (albeit small) of an announcement today and I think the guy was looking for something final
But Alex, look what all the "credibal" sources below you posted :)
So the question now becomes, when will Gibson commit? Sounds like OSU will want him to improve his grades, which could mean this will be dragging into the Fall and perhaps longer. If they are wanting better test scores (ACT/SAT) he'd have to take it again and wait for his results.
I know I'm jumping the gun here with this, but could this turn into a scenario where Gibson could be on the outside looking in due to his grades and timing of other commitments from guys at the WR position?
Haha all good
Nobody has any reason to not trust this staff on recruiting yet.
I by no means intend to bash any single athlete, but come on man, it's awful if your grades are holding you back from receiving an offer or qualifying as a DI athlete. My friend who won the state title for his weight class in NC this past season (Went 50-0), was cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse near the end of his junior year. He said the requirements were a complete joke to ensure that you qualified and even with his self-proclaimed mediocre test scores, the guy still had offers from UNC and other "academic powerhouses." It's sad when one can't do enough in high school to eliminate any doubts of whether or not they'll qualify academically for college athletics. Best of luck to Gibson.
William, what's even worse about this is that Gibson had a Buckeye-commit as a teammate. He goes to the same high school as Kyle Dodson did. Had the perfect chance to learn what to do to get where you wanted.

Meyer has always been different on recruiting than most, if not all other coaches (there is a method to his madness of success), I think that, combined with reduction of scholarships makes for a really odd style of recruiting/accepting commitments from players...I don't think Tress would have treated the Foster situation like Meyer, the Davonte Neal situation (apparently wanting to commit but turned down), nor this Gibson grade issue like Meyer...and to be honest, I prefer Meyer's approach, quality athletes but more importantly quality students and people...Gibson wants in, he has to earn it and if he accomplishes this, it will only be a positive for the OSU program
UConn fans are not going to be happy next year when the basketball team can't play in the postseason because of grades. We are not happy because we can't watch OSU play in a bowl this year. Getting the best talent is what we all want but I agree that its not worth losing a post season over if a star player(s) brings the APR down. I would love to see a talented kid like Gibson in a buckeye uniform, but not at the cost of the team. There are many talented players out there that put in the effort in the classroom as well.
If he really wants to be a buckeye, then he will do what is necessary to get in.
