What are your expectations for him in 2012? Starter, play sparingly, plays but 80% of past ability, or better than ever? I heard on radio today, from Mark Rhea, editor of Buckeye Sports Bulliten, that Nate expects himself to be ready to play in 2012. I would love to see him come back 100% from microfracture surgery, but I just don't know.

I don't see Williams getting a lot of PT. he's missed so much already and with the talent at DE.... It's going to be the best players getting the most meaningful snaps and Urban won't show seniors loyalty like Tress has done in the past.
If Nate is not 100%, any thoughts of a medical redshirt?
I think he already got a medical redshirt.
I want this:
back ASAP.
@ Smith
Yeah, I love that aggressive attitude from our D!
b4 the injury i thought williams was goin to be better than simon
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Before the injury, Williams was better than Simon. He was the perfect LEO with a strong bull rush. I don't recall how he did in run defense but he was a monster on the pass rush.
I see this being a similar situation to Tyler Moeller, unfortunately. I just don't see him being able to come back this late from microfracture surgery and be effective, it just doesn't happen. I hope I'm wrong because I love Nate's abiliity to get after the quarterback and he would definitely help the D-line out with a lot of these younger guys looking to get PT.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
look at the face of the guy behind simon, you can just make it out but its fear. THATS what i want back
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Do you guys forget Urban's first press conference? He said Nate Williams wasn't a good player, but a GREAT player. Injury is completely different from Moeller's. He picked up is medical redshirt last year since he was injured in the first game. He'll be back to his old self, probably get 75-80% of the snaps at the LEO spot.
No one should question Williams ability. Before the injury he was the best defensive lineman we had. He was even decent against the pass when they dropped him back. What they are questioning is the ability to recover from what I hear is a very severe injury and his endurance. You develop a certain amount of atrophy when sidelined as long as he has been and even if he can work out with the weights, it takes a good long while to get that wind back.
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
working in the medical field I would find it very difficult to believe, atrophy is going to have anything to do with the healing. we just understand why motion is essential so i dont see how they would let his ROM diminish.
