I lost fifty bucks to Jason this year.

"No way," said I, "does Ohio State win more than nine games in the regular season. They lost too many players and Urban has never dealt with this kind of attrition."

"You're dumb and wrong," said Jason.

"OH YEAH?!?"

And then several months later he was gleefully taking my hard-earned American dollars.

So this year, despite the prerequisite angst that we're all obligated to experience as Ohio State fans, was a pleasant surprise to me (if not my wallet). Guys like Hooker and Jones and even Weber and McMillan had tremendous years, Barrett didn't win the Heisman or anything but was at the very least "good," and of course Curtis Samuel was a revelation when actually allowed to do his thing.

This week Beau and I take that all into consideration, hand out our "best of" awards for 2016, and relax a bit for the holidays before things start to get bonkers next week. We also briefly touch on the budding rivalry between Thad Matta and the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the new hire of Billy Davis to... well, something. He's gonna do something. That we know for sure.

Also, we did get a really great Ask Us Anything question, but we're going to save that until next week when we have a little more time to devote to it. And keep sending them in!

0:00- Billy Billy Billy Billy Davis joins the staff, and he's a... dude? Who has coached some really bad NFL defenses. Still... Trust Urban

15:15- CBJ versus Thad Matta and his team might be a much tougher matchup than in years past.

24:05- The best of 2016! Most improved players, offensive and defensive MVPs, best game, best look... it's all here.

And that will do it for this week! Apologies for the 24 hour delay, but we'll be back in action at our regular time next week with a Fiesta Bowl preview that you don't want to miss. Thanks as always to Travis for the Dubcast logo, and thanks to you for listening! Happy holidays!
