If the season ended today, Ohio State would be a No. 3 seed in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.

The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee released its final top-16 ranking before Selection Sunday on Thursday night, and Ohio State is currently viewed by the selection committee as the 12th-best team in the country, making the Buckeyes the final No. 3 seed in the current bracket.

It’s a move up one seed line for the Buckeyes, who were the 16th and final team in the initial rankings released by the selection committee one week ago.

If the Buckeyes the top 16 in the actual bracket, Ohio State will host first- and second-round games on campus. The Buckeyes would currently be slated to play in the Seattle Regional if they make it to the second weekend of the tournament.

Ohio State’s move up comes after back-to-back wins including one against projected No. 4 seed Michigan – who is now the final team in the top 16 – on Monday. The Buckeyes will conclude their regular season against a projected No. 2 seed when they play Maryland, currently ranked as the sixth-best team in the country, at the Schottenstein Center on Friday (6 p.m., BTN).

Cumulatively, the Big Ten is currently projected to have five teams in the top four seed lines as Indiana is positioned to be a No. 1 seed (No. 2 overall) while Iowa is currently ranked as the top No. 3 seed.
