Klare and Kacmarek are the first pair of Ohio State tight ends to ever get selected in the same NFL draft. Both of them were selected higher than any other Ohio State tight end in the last 22 years; the only other tight ends selected in the first three rounds of the NFL draft since 2005 were Jeff Heuerman in 2015 (No. 92 overall, Broncos), Nick Vannett in 2016 (No. 94 overall, Seahawks) and Jeremy Ruckert in 2022 (No. 101 overall, Jets).
Ohio State's 2026 NFL Draft Picks
- Carnell Tate: Round 1, No. 4, Tennessee Titans
- Arvell Reese: Round 1, No. 5, New York Giants
- Sonny Styles: Round 1, No. 7, Washington Commanders
- Caleb Downs: Round 1, No. 11, Dallas Cowboys
- Kayden McDonald: Round 2, No. 36, Houston Texans
- Max Klare: Round 2, No. 61, Los Angeles Rams
- Davison Igbinosun: Round 2, No. 62, Buffalo Bills
- Will Kacmarek: Round 3, No. 87. Miami Dolphins
A native of St. Louis, Kacmarek began his college career at Ohio University, where he caught 42 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns. Kacmarek left Athens for Columbus at the end of the 2023 season, and he gained 254 yards and two touchdowns on 23 receptions over two seasons with the Buckeyes, earning All-Big Ten honorable mention recognition in 2025.
The 6-foot-6, 258-pound tight end was used primarily as a blocker by the Buckeyes, and will likely continue to do most of his damage as a blocker in the NFL.
With the selections of Klare and Kacmarek, Ohio State has now had 17 tight ends selected in the common draft era (1967-2026). Rickey Dudley remains the only Buckeye tight end to be selected in the first round when the Raiders drafted him with the ninth overall pick of the 1996 draft.
Kacmarek is the eighth Buckeye off the board in the 2026 NFL draft, joining first-round selections Carnell Tate (No. 4 overall, Titans), Arvell Reese (No. 5, Giants), Sonny Styles (No. 7, Commanders) and Caleb Downs (No. 11 overall, Cowboys) and second-round picks Kayden McDonald (No. 36 overall, Texans), Max Klare (No. 61 overall, Rams) and Davison Igbinosun (No. 62, Bills).
