Ohio State's first transfer portal commitment has finally landed.

After missing out on former UCLA safety Kamari Ramsey, former Cal linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr and Michigan State defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, the Buckeyes have added former Ohio University tight end Will Kacmarek from the portal.

Kacmarek, a rising redshirt junior, will arrive at Ohio State with two years of eligibility remaining. He is unranked in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings.

The Kacmarek File

  • Year: Redshirt Junior
  • Size: 6-6/256
  • Pos: Tight End
  • School: Ohio (2021-23)
  • Stats: 22 receptions, 243 yards, two touchdowns in 2023

In two years as a starter for the Bobcats, Kacmarek caught a combined 42 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns. Twenty-two of those receptions, 243 of the yards and both touchdowns came in 2023.

He also carried the ball once for five yards. Kacmarek received Pro Football Focus grades of 67.2 as a run blocker and 65.8 as a pass blocker in 2023.

Playing his prep career at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School, Kacmarek was listed as a defensive lineman and unranked in the 247Sports composite, though 247Sports had him listed as a two-star prospect and the nation's No. 407 defensive lineman.

He will compete in a tight ends room that returns backup tight end Gee Scott Jr. and rising redshirt freshman Jelani Thurman, the composite No. 3 tight end in the class of 2023. Sam Hart and Bennett Christian combine with incoming freshmen Max LeBlanc and Damarion Witten to fill out the rest of the room for the Buckeyes.
