Ryan Day, Julian Sayin and Kenyatta Jackson Jr. met with the media following Ohio State’s spring game.
It was a much more abbreviated press conference than usual, with each subject taking no more than five questions, but we’ve compiled a quick recap of what each of them had to say in their post-spring game press conferences.
Ryan Day
Day started his press conference by thanking the fans for attending the game in the rain. “It was raining sideways for a bit,” Day said.
On Tavien St. Clair: “Being the quarterback at Ohio State is not easy. He’s battling every day. I think you can see the talent, for sure... He’s been showing up every day with a good attitude, and that's important.”
Day said Earl Little Jr. underwent a clean-up procedure on his knee. “He’ll be back here in a few weeks.”
“I think we’re still a work in progress in all three phases,” Day said. “Each guy is in a race to get better ... then also we need to build chemistry in all three phases.”
Kenyatta Jackson Jr.
Jackson thinks the depth of the defensive line has improved over the course of the spring.
Jackson said Beau Atkinson took improving his mobility seriously this offseason.
Jackson said it’s “good-on-good” every day going against the offensive line, and he thinks that unit took a step forward this offseason.
Julian Sayin
On freshman wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.: “I think he’s done a really good job ... He’s a big, tall, fast receiver who can make great plays. I think you saw a couple today. I think he's got a bright future.”
Sayin said he’s worked on building up the internal clock in his head and learning when it’s time to escape the pocket and extend plays.
Asked what would have happened if it were live tackling and he had to run through contact, Sayin replied, “100% I’m scoring.”
On Tavien St. Clair: “I think he’s done a good job this spring of developing and taking that next step.”
