Ohio State will play for its first Big Ten title in five years.

By vanquishing Michigan 27-9 in Ann Arbor on Saturday, the Buckeyes secured their ticket to Indianapolis to play Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game next Saturday.

Both Ohio State and Indiana, the No. 1 and 2 teams in the College Football Playoff rankings, finished their regular seasons with 12-0 records and 9-0 conference records. Had the Buckeyes fallen to the Wolverines, they would have lost a tiebreaker with either Oregon or Michigan for the second spot in the championship game.

The No. 1 seed in the CFP and a spot in the Rose Bowl will also be on the line when the Buckeyes and Hoosiers meet. The loser still has a great chance to receive a first-round bye when the final CFP rankings are released on Dec. 7.

It's the first Big Ten title game appearance for Ohio State since it defeated Northwestern to win the conference championship in 2020. It will be Ohio State’s seventh overall Big Ten Championship Game appearance, the most of any school.

Indiana will make its first-ever appearance in the Big Ten Championship Game, which was first played in 2011.

The Buckeyes and Hoosiers will kick off in Lucas Oil Stadium at 8 p.m. next Saturday, Dec. 6, on FOX.
