Julian Sayin is Ohio State’s first Big Ten Player of the Week in the 2025 season.

Following his near-perfect performance against Grambling State on Saturday, the Big Ten named Sayin its Freshman of the Week.

Sayin started the game with an Ohio State record 16 consecutive completions. His 17th pass attempt was his lone mistake on Saturday, as Grambling State cornerback Tyrell Raby intercepted his pass intended for Carnell Tate. Sayin then completed two more passes to Tate and Brandon Inniss to finish the evening 18-of-19 passing for 306 yards and four touchdowns.

“I had a lot of fun today,” Sayin said of his performance. “I can’t say enough about the receiving room, the running backs and the offensive line — just everyone doing their part in making the offense move.”

Ryan Day said Sayin “did a nice job” as Ohio State moved from a more conservative game plan against Texas to an aggressive game plan against Grambling State.

“You saw a lot more RPOs. You saw a lot of things coming out of his hand,” Day said. “We started a drive, I think, maybe we were inside the 10, 20-yard line where we took a shot early and hit it. Down in the red zone, we were throwing it. We were really forcing the issue down there. There’s more we’re putting in his hands to manage the game.”

Jeremiah Smith also saw great things from his quarterback, with the star receiver praising Sayin’s accuracy after the game.

“It’s crazy,” Smith said. “I’ve been seeing it since his freshman year, since last year. Nothing surprises me at this point. He can make any and every throw, like I’ve said before. He’s controlling the offense at a very good pace right now, so I’m very excited for him.”
