Ohio State fans who subscribe to YouTube TV could soon have another reason for beef with FOX.

YouTube TV announced Monday in an email to subscribers that FOX and its affiliated networks – also including FS1, FS2 and Big Ten Network – could become unavailable if the two parties are unable to reach a deal on a new carriage agreement by Wednesday.

In order to provide you with the best in live sports, news, and entertainment, YouTube TV enters into partnerships with content providers like Fox. Our current agreement with Fox is approaching its renewal date, and we are in active negotiations to continue carrying their content. Our priority is to reach a deal that’s fair for both sides, as well as our subscribers.

We want to be transparent about these discussions: if we are unable to reach an agreement with Fox by August 27, 2025, their content may become unavailable. If this happens, this will impact channels like the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News, and Fox Sports, as well as any Library recordings you have from these channels.

Big Ten Network sent out a social media post featuring Ryan Day and several other Big Ten coaches imploring fans to visit KeepFOX.com for information about the potential outage.

If YouTube TV and FOX fail to reach an agreement this week, YouTube TV subscribers will be forced to find another way to watch Saturday’s Ohio State vs. Texas game, such as subscribing to FOX One (which is offering a seven-day free trial but then costs $19.99/month), using an old-fashioned over-the-air antenna or plunking down at least $350 for a ticket to attend the game at Ohio Stadium.

While last-minute agreements are common in disputes between TV networks and service providers, it wouldn’t be the first time a dispute has dragged into the season and caused college football fans to miss big games. Two years ago, Spectrum subscribers lost access to ESPN for the first two weeks of the college football season due to a carriage dispute (which, ironically, was when this writer switched from Spectrum to YouTube TV).

FOX has already been in the crosshairs of many Ohio State fans this offseason due to its insistence on airing the Buckeyes’ best games – including Saturday’s game against Texas and likely including Ohio State’s other marquee home game against Penn State – at noon. Now, YouTube TV subscribers could be forced to jump through hoops just to watch the game at all.
