Steele Chambers is already on the move to his second NFL team.

The former Ohio State linebacker was claimed by the New England Patriots on Tuesday, one day after he was waived by the Detroit Lions, who initially signed Chambers after he went undrafted in April.

Chambers will now look to compete for a backup linebacker job with the Patriots, where he joins a linebacker corps that includes fellow former Ohio State player Raekwon McMillan.

Chambers was one of five players from Ohio State’s 2023 football team who went undrafted after entering the 2024 NFL draft along with Xavier Johnson, Matt Jones, Josh Proctor and Miyan Williams. Johnson signed with the Buffalo Bills, Jones signed with the Miami Dolphins and Proctor signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and all three remain with those teams. Williams, who is recovering from a knee surgery he underwent in January, remains unsigned.

Four Buckeyes were selected in the 2024 NFL draft: Marvin Harrison Jr., Mike Hall Jr., Cade Stover and Tommy Eichenberg.
