Josh Proctor made the biggest play of the game for Ohio State against Rutgers, but it knocked him out for the rest of the contest.

As Rutgers attempted a third-quarter pass over the middle to running back Kyle Monangai,  Proctor leveled a hit on the ballcarrier that popped the throw up into the air.

Jordan Hancock intercepted the batted ball and ran it back 93 yards the other way for a go-ahead touchdown, giving the Buckeyes a 14-9 lead with 9:49 to play in the third.

Proctor didn't get up immediately following the play, however.

He laid motionless on the field for a while while training staff attended to him, later sitting up to speak with the medical personnel. After a few moments, Proctor was escorted under his own power. to Ohio State's sideline, where he was taken to the team's medical tent for further evaluation. He later returned to Ohio State's sideline without his helmet.

Proctor met with the media after the game and said his “head was ringing” after the play but that he felt fine after returning to the sideline. Ohio State opted to hold him out for the remainder of the game for precautionary reasons.

Malik Hartford entered the game at free safety in his stead. Hartford started and played one series earlier this season with Proctor out in Week 2 against Youngstown State but has only seen playing time in late-game situations otherwise.
