No Ohio State player has ever caught more passes in a single season than Jaxon Smith-Njigba has this year.

With his 11th catch of the Rose Bowl and 91st catch of the season, Smith-Njigba broke Ohio State’s single-season record for receptions, surpassing the previous mark of 90 catches by Parris Campbell in 2018.

Smith-Njigba finished the game with 15 receptions – tying his own school record set earlier this season – giving him 95 catches on the season.

This is one of the multiple records Smith-Njigba set during his Rose Bowl performance as he also set a new single-game school record for receiving yards as well as the school record for receiving yards in a single season.

Smith-Njigba finishes the season by catching at least nine passes in each of Ohio State’s final five games, taking on an even bigger role for the Buckeyes in their final game of the season after both Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson opted out of the Rose Bowl.

He’ll strive to put up even bigger numbers in 2022, as he’s only a true sophomore and will be back with the Buckeyes for at least one more season.
