We’re excited to officially welcome Lyle Alenstein to the Eleven Warriors team on Wednesday!
Lyle joins us after graduating from Penn State, where he spent the past few years covering the Nittany Lions. He’s spent plenty of time around college athletics, bringing a reporter’s perspective and a deep understanding of what it takes to cover a major program.
At Eleven Warriors, Lyle will take the lead on our men’s basketball coverage while also helping us continue to provide the around-the-clock Ohio State football coverage you’ve come to expect from us.
Before he gets started covering the Buckeyes, we thought it would be a good time for everyone to get to know Lyle a little better.
Give Lyle a warm welcome in the comments and ask him anything! Want to know about his Penn State background? His thoughts on Ohio State basketball? His favorite sports memories? His questionable allegiance to the New York Rangers? Drop your questions below, and Lyle will stop by to introduce himself and answer as many as he can.
We’re thrilled to have him aboard and can’t wait for you all to get to know him. He'll be here Wednesday to respond to your comments!
A few of Lyle’s favorites:
- Favorite sports moment: Watching the New York Knicks win the NBA Finals this past year with my mom, dad and brother, who, like me, endured years of disappointment before finally getting to experience that moment.
- Favorite college football player: Marcus Mariota
- Favorite college basketball player: Shabazz Napier
- Favorite NFL team: New York Giants
- Favorite NHL team: New York Rangers (I can’t say I’m a die-hard hockey fan or follow the sport religiously, but I’m from New York, so I claim them. Now that I’m in Columbus, I may become a Blue Jackets fan — who knows?)
- Favorite NBA team: New York Knicks
- Favorite MLB team: New York Yankees
- Favorite soccer team: None yet — I won’t pretend to claim one. Like the Blue Jackets, I might have to become a Columbus Crew fan.
