We did it. Thanks to the generous contributions of so many of you, we're erecting a statue of Woody Hayes in Newcomerstown Saturday.

Nearly two years ago, we had a crazy idea to put a statue of Woody Hayes in his hometown of Newcomerstown, Ohio.

We weren't sure it would work, but today, we're happy to report that it did. Hundreds of donors stepped forward to contribute more than $40,000 to the project, we lined up renowned sculptor Alan Cottrill, and partnered with the Newcomerstown Historical Society.

This Saturday, we're holding the mother of all small town parties in Newcomerstown to dedicate the statue of Woody to the fine people of his hometown.

And we'd love it if you could join us.

The dedication of the life-size statue will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, at the football stadium at Newcomerstown High School (659 Beaver St, Newcomerstown, OH 43832). We're thrilled to announce that Archie Griffin and Woody's son, Judge Steven Hayes, will speak at the dedication.

Archie Griffin

You read that right – the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in NCAA history and one of Woody's favorite players will be on hand to help us celebrate the unveiling of the statue.

Admission to the dedication ceremony is free.

See you there!
