Though Ohio State convincingly beat Illinois this weekend, the Buckeyes remained at No. 8 in the Amway Coaches Poll released Sunday afternoon.

Undefeated Alabama continues to hold onto the top spot in the rankings after beating overmatched Mercer, 56-0, while Miami remains at No. 2 despite struggling for three quarters with bowl-bound Virginia.

Auburn is the highest-ranked two-loss team, but faces the Crimson Tide this Saturday with a berth in the SEC Championship on the line. Ohio State sits just two spots behind the sixth-ranked Tigers, who would undoubtedly fall behind the Buckeyes with a third loss.
