Twitter Reactions: The Indiana Hoosiers Give Ohio State a Very Indiana Kind of Game

For a team that's played Ohio State 90 times and managed exactly 12 wins, the Indiana Hoosiers have been a disproportionate thorn in the side of the Ohio State Buckeyes for the past five seasons.

Though Indiana's last win against Ohio State came in the 1980s, in the past five seasons they've averaged almost 27 points per game against a team that's traditionally one of the best defensive teams in the nation. They've lost all of those games, but for Ohio State fans used to turning Bloomington into Columbus West every so often, almost all of those games have been far too close for comfort.

My theory on this is that Ohio State can't exist without a C-tier enemy. That's a little rough on the 2016 Indiana Hoosiers, since they're a legitimately good team (and possibly the best Ohio State has played so far this season), but whether it's Purdue or pre-Dantonio Michigan State or Northwestern that one time in 2004, Ohio State gets weird and unexpected problems from teams that really shouldn't give them any.

Maybe that's necessary for a program that resembles an unstoppable force of nature at times; the karmic balance of the universe requires that they have a nonsensical weakness to something like really mundane, like garlic and vampires or Superman and a glowing green rock or Tennessee and the fourth or fifth game of the season in which they're supposed to contend for a national title, for real this time.

Anyway, a win's a win. Next week gets chaotic at Camp Randall but for now, let's go Tweetin'.
